What is Neuro Emotional Technique?
Release what your body has been holding onto.
Sometimes it’s not just physical.
Neuro Emotional Technique is an evidence informed mind–body approach designed to help identify and release unresolved emotional stress patterns stored within the body.
NET works on the understanding that we don’t just experience stress, we store it.
Past experiences, emotional stress and ongoing nervous system overload can create patterns within the body that may continue to influence both emotional and physical wellbeing long after the original event has passed.
NET combines principles of:
Neuroscience
Traditional Chinese Medicine
Mind–body awareness
Nervous system regulation
Using gentle muscle testing and mind–body techniques, NET helps connect physical symptoms and nervous system responses with unresolved emotional stress patterns. Allowing the body to safely process and release them.
There is no need to relive trauma or deeply verbalise difficult experiences.
Your body does the work, gently and at its own pace.
What can NET help support?
NET may support people experiencing:
Stress and anxiety relief
Processing trauma responses
Pain and symptoms associated with stress
Breaking behavioural patterns (phobias, fears, self-sabotaging etc)
Emotional blocks
Emotional processing and resilience
Feeling emotionally “stuck”
-
NET sessions are calm, gentle and collaborative.
You will remain fully clothed and supported throughout the session.
Using muscle testing, we identify stress responses and unresolved emotional patterns being held within the nervous system and body. Once identified, gentle correction techniques are used to help the body process and release these responses safely.
Many people describe feeling:
Emotionally lighter
Deeply relaxed
More grounded and calm
Clearer mentally
More connected to themselves
Some people notice shifts immediately, while for others the changes unfold gradually over the following days as the nervous system integrates what it is ready for.
Sessions may be offered as a standalone treatment or integrated alongside acupuncture depending on your individual needs.
-
At Wild Heart Acupuncture, we believe healing involves caring for both the physical and emotional body.
Acupuncture supports the physical body, nervous system regulation and energetic balance, while NET works with the emotional and neurological patterns that may be contributing to symptoms beneath the surface.
Together, they create a more integrated, whole-person approach to healing — especially when stress, emotional load or nervous system dysregulation are playing a role in your health.
This combination can support deeper, longer-lasting shifts within both body and mind.
-

NET is a gentle, non-invasive approach that may also support children and teenagers experiencing stress, emotional overwhelm or nervous system dysregulation.
Children often process stress through the body rather than words, which can sometimes show up as:
Anxiety or worry
Emotional outbursts or sensitivity
Sleep difficulties
Stress-related tummy aches or tension
School stress and overwhelm
Difficulty regulating emotions
Behavioural changes
Big life transitions or family changes
Sessions are adapted to suit each child’s age, comfort level and individual needs, with a calm, supportive and age-appropriate approach focused on helping children feel safe, regulated and emotionally supported.
At Wild Heart Acupuncture, we aim to create a nurturing environment where both children and parents feel supported throughout the process.
-
No. NET is not psychotherapy, counselling, or psychology. It is a complementary technique focused on the connection between emotional stress and physical responses in the body. While emotions may come up during a session, the process is generally gentle, structured, and body-based rather than talk-therapy based.
-
No. NET does not require you to relive or retell traumatic events in detail. Sessions are designed to be gentle and supportive. The focus is on helping the body process unresolved stress patterns safely, without needing to revisit painful memories extensively.
-
This varies from person to person. Some people notice shifts after just a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing care depending on the complexity and duration of their concerns. Your treatment plan will always be individualised.
-
Many people seek NET support for physical symptoms that may worsen during times of stress or emotional strain. NET works from the understanding that unresolved stress can influence how the body functions and responds.
-
Yes. NET is designed to complement, not replace, medical or mental health care. Many people use NET alongside psychology, physiotherapy, acupuncture, GP care, or other allied health support.
-
While acupuncture primarily works through the body’s energetic and physiological systems, NET specifically focuses on unresolved stress and emotional patterns that may be impacting physical or emotional wellbeing. NET can be used on its own or integrated into acupuncture sessions.
-
Most people describe sessions as calming, insightful, or emotionally relieving. Occasionally emotions may surface during a session, but the process is intended to feel safe and supported.

Because this is about more than symptom relief. It’s about creating space for your body to settle, your mind to soften, and for you to come back to yourself.
