Acupuncture and treatments at Wild Heart

In your first appointment we talk through your health, your history and everything you’re carrying, then decide together which techniques will suit you best.  Most sessions are built around acupuncture, often combined with one or more of the techniques below.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves placing very fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points on the body.

Acupuncture may help you manage symptoms such as pain, stress, fatigue and muscle tension. Many women tell me the treatment room is the first place in a long time they’ve been able to properly switch off. I’ll explain what I’m doing and why as we go, so you’re never left wondering.

Neuro Emotional Technique

NET is a mind-body approach that looks at how stress and emotional responses can show up in the body. â€‹I use gentle muscle testing to identify a stress pattern linked to a symptom, then work through it with you while making light contact on specific points. You stay fully clothed and in control, and you won’t need to relive anything in detail.

For women navigating fertility treatment, loss or the pressure of new motherhood, NET is a way of acknowledging that the stress of the journey is part of the story.

Cupping Treatment

Cupping

Cupping uses glass or silicone cups that create gentle suction on the skin, usually across the back and shoulders. The cups may stay in place for a few minutes or be glided slowly over the muscles.

Most people describe it as a deep, pulling pressure over tight areas. It can leave round marks on the skin that usually fade within a few days to a week, so let me know if you have an event or a beach day coming up.

Moxibustion

Moxa, made from dried mugwort, is gently warmed and held above the skin, or on the handle of the needle, to bring warmth to an area.

Most people describe a gentle, spreading warmth. It may be part of your session, and some people are show how to use it safely at home.

Gua sha

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique in which a smooth-edged tool is stroked firmly along oiled skin, most often on the back, neck and shoulders.

It’s commonly used over areas of muscle tension and feels like a firm, scraping massage.

It can bring up temporary redness on the skin, which fades over a few days.
