POSTPARTUM  •  THE FOURTH TRIMESTER

Care for the mother, not just the baby

After birth, almost all the attention goes to the baby. The postpartum months can bring physical recovery, broken sleep, hormonal shifts, and a mental load nobody warns you about. This is a space for you.

IS THIS YOU?

Whether your baby is six weeks or two years old, you’re welcome

Recovering

Your body has been through a lot, and you’d like support as you recover.

Running on empty

Broken sleep and constant demands have left you depleted.

Not feeling like yourself

The mental load is heavy, and you’re finding it hard to feel calm or capable.

Wanting your own time

You’ve been caring for everyone else and need an hour that is just for you.

HOW I WORK WITH YOU

An hour that’s actually yours

Babies welcome

Bring your baby. Feed, settle or pause whenever you need to. A pram fits in the treatment room and nobody minds a cry.

Whole person care

Your recovery, sleep, energy, cycle returning and emotional wellbeing, looked at together rather than one at a time.

Practical tools

Simple things you can do at home in the cracks of the day, chosen for real life with a baby.

Postpartum anxiety is real. I’ve been there.

After my own children, I experienced postpartum anxiety and depression, and the moment of realising I didn’t recognise myself. I understand how hard it can be to ask for help.

If you’re struggling with your mood, please talk to your GP or child health nurse, or call PANDA on 1300 726 306. I’m glad to support you along with that care.

ALONGSIDE YOUR SPECIALIST

Working with your GP and child health nurse

I’ll always encourage you to keep your postnatal checks. With your consent, I am happy to keep your GP informed.

Practical things to know:

  • Prams, capsules and nappy bags welcome

  • Flexible rebooking when the day falls apart

  • Partners welcome to come and hold the baby

COMMON QUESTIONS

What women often ask me

Can I bring my baby?

Yes absolutely. Babies are welcome at every postpartum appointment. We can pause to feed or settle, and treatment can be adapted so you’re comfortable.

How soon after birth can I come?

You’re welcome to come as soon as you feel ready, and many people start within the first few weeks. Some prefer to wait until after their six-week check, especially after a caesarean or a complicated birth. If leaving the house feels like too much early on, I also offer home visits, so you can have treatment without having to travel.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes. I offer home visits for postpartum clients within a set area, e.g. 15 km of my clinic. I bring everything needed for your treatment, so all you need is a comfortable spot to sit or lie down, such as your bed or couch. Your baby can stay close by, and we can pause whenever you need to feed or settle. Home visits are priced at $225 for 60 minutes to cover travel time (not available online for booking, please contact directly to organise).

Can I have acupuncture while breastfeeding?

Yes. Acupuncture is generally considered safe while breastfeeding. I’ll ask how feeding is going, and you’re welcome to feed during your appointment if needed.

What if I need to cancel last minute?

I understand that life with a newborn is unpredictable. I ask for 48 hours’ notice where possible, but if your baby is unwell, you’ve had a rough night or plans simply fall apart, just let me know as soon as you can and I’ll help you reschedule.

Can I claim a rebate?

Yes, if your private health insurance includes acupuncture in your extras cover, you can claim on the spot using my HICAPS terminal. Rebate amounts depend on your fund and level of cover, so we suggest checking with your insurer before your appointment. â€‹
