Restore • Rest • Return to Yourself
The fourth trimester rarely gets the attention it deserves. Physical recovery, broken sleep, feeding, hormonal shifts and the emotional intensity of new motherhood all arrive at once, usually while you’re caring for a newborn around the clock.
Everyone asks about the baby. This is the place that asks about you.
At Wild Heart Acupuncture, I offer gentle postpartum care to support your recovery and give you a calm, unhurried hour to be looked after, not as someone’s mother, but as yourself.
Post Partum Care
I’ve been where you are
I’m a mother who has lived through postpartum anxiety, the kind nobody warns you about. I know the exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix, the invisible mental load, and the moment you realise you’ve been caring for everyone except yourself. That experience shapes how I care for every new mother who walks through my door.
How I can support you
Physical recovery. Acupuncture may help you manage the aches and tension that come with birth, feeding and carrying a baby: sore backs, necks, shoulders and wrists.
Rest and energy. We’ll look at your sleep, digestion and energy through a Chinese medicine lens, with simple, realistic suggestions for food and rest. No rigid plans to add to your load.
Emotional adjustment. Becoming a mother is a huge shift in identity. Acupuncture may help you manage stress and feeling overwhelmed, and NET gives us a way to work with stress patterns that can build up through pregnancy, birth and the early months.
Your first cycles after birth. If your periods are painful, heavy or unpredictable as they return, we can talk it through and support you with any discomfort, alongside your GP.
Your wellbeing matters
Low mood, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed are common after birth, and they’re not a sign you’re failing. Acupuncture can be part of your support, but it isn’t a replacement for medical or mental health care. If you’re struggling, please talk to your GP or contact PANDA on 1300 726 306. If you ever feel unsafe, call 000.
How a visit unfolds
We’ll start with a conversation about your birth, your recovery, how you’re sleeping and feeding, and how you’re really going. Then I’ll tailor a gentle treatment for you, with practical tools to take home. You’re welcome to bring your baby. We’ll pause for feeds, settling or nappy changes whenever you need.
Working alongside your care team
My care sits alongside your GP, midwife, child and family health nurse, or obstetrician, never in place of them.
Common questions
How soon after birth can I come?
Many women come in the first weeks or months after birth, but there’s no deadline. Postpartum support is just as relevant a year or more later. If you’ve had a caesarean or a complicated birth, check with your doctor or midwife first.
Can I bring my baby?
Yes. Babies are very welcome, and we’ll work around feeds and settling.
I’m breastfeeding. Is that OK?
Yes. Let me know you’re breastfeeding and I’ll adjust your treatment and any dietary suggestions to suit.
Can I claim this on private health?
Acupuncture may be claimable on private health insurance, depending on your extras cover. HICAPS is available in clinic.
You’ve been holding everything together. Here, you can put it down for an hour.
